4th GCHERA World Dialogue & GCHERA General Assembly 2016
The GCHERA Annual Meeting will be held on Monday 17 October 2016, Cape Town, South Africa as a pre-meeting to the Fifth RUFORUM Biennial Conference, also known as African Higher Education Week.
The meeting will comprise two parts. The first part, in partnership with GFAR, will be the 4th GCHERA World Dialogue 2016 : Global Leadership and Transformative Changes to Meet the Challenges of the 21st C. This will be followed by the GCHERA General Assembly 2016. GFAR is providing financial support for the attendance of some of the delegates.
The 4th GCHERA World Dialogue will address the need for GCHERA’s member universities to provide graduates with the knowledge, skills, ethical foundation, and creativity to be successful leaders in industry, government, NGOs and civil society to meet the challenges of the 21st C. Industry, government, NGOs and civil society require staff who not only have the knowledge, skills and competencies to act in specialist fields, but who are also leaders in their field. This discussion will be stimulated by one of the GCARD3 outcomes Undergraduate Education Reform to meet 21st Century Societal Needs and by the planned outcomes of the GCHERA Action Plan 2016-20. The expected outcomes will be to identify small to large scale initiatives to address the need to support curricular reform in our universities. Secondly, it is proposed by GCHERA and GFAR to invite various partners to form an Alliance to deliver these initiatives.
